A Monster Day for The Monster Men

Yesterday was a very busy day here on the Ponderosa. My Monster Bud, Jack Campisi, came over so we could film a boatload of Monster Men podcasts. We made it through 7 before fatigue and too much beer consumption wores us down, where we then sat on our asses for the rest of the night watching two movies (the sad Not Your Typical Bigfoot Movie and the tense, Aussie shark drama, The Reef). Then it is was on to random episodes of Tosh.0 (always hilarious and politically incorrect), Monster Quest, and a few more beers.

Despite all that, Jack did manage to get up early and finish the edits for a quickie rant we did on the new Underworld flick, and the franchise in general. Just click on the Monster Men logo below to see what we think. If you like it or hate it, please forward it so we can get the villagers good and rankled. It’s been a while since I saw a procession of torches coming up the lane.

Underwhelmed by Underworld

About Hunter Shea

Hunter Shea is the product of a misspent childhood watching scary movies, reading forbidden books and wishing Bigfoot would walk past his house. He doesn’t just write about the paranormal – he actively seeks out the things that scare the hell out of people and experiences them for himself. Hunter’s novels can even be found on display at the International Cryptozoology Museum. His video podcast, Monster Men, is one of the most watched horror podcasts in the world. You’ll also find him every week on the Final Guys podcast, available everywhere. He’s a bestselling author of over 30 books, all of them written with the express desire to quicken heartbeats and make spines tingle. Living with his wonderful family and two cats, he’s happy to be close enough to New York City to gobble down Gray’s Papaya hotdogs when the craving hits.

“too much beer consumption wores us down”- I think this says it all 🙂

I’ll be checking back later for the Monster Men episode (I’m currently in the car on the way to work, so will have to check out later). I haven’t seen any of the Underworld movies, but I heard the first one was good and it’s on the list. Should I not watch the episode? Does it give anything major away?

I will admit, the first one was ok (better than Resident Evil), but far from worthy of a sequel, much less three! I think it’s because I read so many incredible, original horror from authors that Hollywood hasn’t heard of that I get crazy seeing the same crap foisted on the world.

I have not seen any of the Underworld movies – simply because I’m not a horror movie fan, but I have to say I was slightly underwhelmed by your post. I know you were tired, but you really didn’t give any concrete reasons why the 4th movie was so bad. Seemed to be a rant about nothing in particular except Kate Bekinsale in spandex. Just my opinion.

I see your point. We just wanted to get a quick clip out there about it and not devote a full segment. Just a rant. It’s not often we blow off steam and it seemed like a good time to do it.
