Signed Copy Giveaway and the Latest Updates
First, I want to thank everyone who has come to this blog, FB, Twitter, offered words of encouragement, bought my book or helped get the word out. Sales have been great and as of today, I’m still haunting the top spot with my publisher. Your support and responses have truly made my heart grow 3 sizes.
Since the NFL playoffs are going to be starting soon and I still have to get the beer for the day’s festivities, I’ll make this quick. My debut novel with Samhain, Forest of Shadows, is now available as a trade paperback. I’m all for the whole e-book thing. I know it’s the wave of the future…or more like the reality of the present. I even have a Kindle (as does one daughter, with wifey owning the lone Nook in the house). But man, there is nothing like the feel and smell of a new book. I know I’m not the only one who takes a good long whiff as I flip through the pages for the first time. Come on, you can tell ‘ol Uncle Hunter.
To celebrate the print release of Forest of Shadows, I’m giving away 2 signed copies to random folks who comment on this blog post. It’s that easy. “But what should I say in my comment?” Well, anything that comes to mind. Let ‘er rip, or be short and sweet. Winners will be announced Monday night, 1/16/12.
In other news, I finished the first draft of the sequel to Forest of Shadows, tentatively titled Double Walker. For those of you who already read FOS, I leave it to you to guess which character the follow up will focus on. We’re just 5 months away from the relase of my next book, Evil Eternal. Guaranteed to blow your mind. Last but not least, a short story of mine, Commandment Eleven, has been picked up by Dark Moon Books and will be unveiled in time for the World Horror Convention.
Okay, enough of Mr. Big Mouth. Comment away and good luck!
I have to confess (shame on me) that I haven’t yet bought the ebook yet, but plan to by Feb. 1. However, I would be ecstatic to win a paperback copy! I’d still buy the Kindle version. I really enjoy keeping up with Hunter’s posts on this blog. What a great giveaway-and thankful the sequel’s getting itself into position;)
Thank you Mallory. If you can, along with everyone else who replied here, send an email to me at huntershea1@gmail.com and I’ll send out a signed promo card for Forest of Shadows, and stay tuned for many more book give aways!
Grest book. I bought downloaded it on kindle but would love to have actual book.
Hey Hunter. Big fan. Would love a signed copy. 😀
Congrats on your print release of Forest of Shadows. I bought the Kindle version when it first appeared, but would absolutely love a signed print as well. I haven’t had the chance to read my copy…yet, because life kind of interrupted my reading time, but it is cued to be read in the next few weeks.
Thanks so much for this!! Appreciate it!!
I have not bought this book yet, but it has been on my wishlist for a while. Thanks for the giveaway. Congrats on the print version.

Hi Hunter from fellow writer Lynn Hones. I finally have internet again and noticed this on Facebook. I agree about the whole Kindle vs. “real books,” debate. I LOVE my Kindle and writing ebooks, but want more than anything to finally have a book “in print.” I want to hold a book that has my story in it. Maybe it’s the five decades I have under my belt turning pages, but I won’t feel like a “real author” until I have one. I also enjoy the smell of a new book. I bet it smells even sweeter with your name on it. I’d love to win one of your books. Congrats and keep inspiring the rest of us. You do make a difference! Well, I think I’ve used my quota of quotation marks for the day. LOL
Can’t wait for the sequel.
That’s a great cover pic – nice and creepy!
Hunter, I got a copy of the book on Kindle, but would love to have a signed copy too! Question – How long did it take you to write the book?
Hi Steve…To answer your question, Forest of Shadows took me 4 years to write and polish. Flash forward to the sequel, which will be done from start to finish in about 6 months. It’s easier once the kids are grown! 🙂
Congrats on the print release!! I love the cover!! I have a kindle, but I will always love print books. I actually prefer them to ebooks. There is just something about all those pretty books lined up on a shelf that I just adore!!
Again congrats and it looks like an awesome read!!

OK dude, I am done with Mr Castaldo’s book. Now I begin yours!!
Great read…would love a signed copy!
Hunter! I would love a signed copy of ‘Forest of Shadows’. Even if I do not win, I will probably still end up purchasing it to have you sign in person whenever your book tour begins. Also go Giants!
Thanks Steve. I’m putting names in the hat right now so my kids can pick the winners! That was some game last night. Giants never cease to amaze me.
Congratulations on your first novel Hunter! It is great to see the printed word making a comeback and folks like you making a living following your dreams or nightmares whichever the case may be.
I wish you continued success!!
I too have been know to sniff a book or two… There is no comparison to reading an actual book. Would love a signed copy… If HC was already available I would have already bought one and had you sign it for me… I’ll keep pushing your books to whoever will listen to me…
Hey Gil. I can actually picture you spending a day sniffing books. LOL! Thanks for everything, man!
I loved the ebook version and would absolutely love a signed print copy. Can’t wait for the sequel. 🙂
Thank you so much, Sherry. I can’t wait to finish the edits on the sequel!
I’d love to win this.
I’d love to read the book. And was wondering how many books in this series do you forsee?
Right now, I have a story arc in mind that would take it through 4 books, but there’s room to grow.
When I’m out of glue, books are great for sniffing. Fantastic site. Great sounding book. Congrats on the success. You have a new fan!
Hands down, that wins for funniest comment of the day…and it just started!
Hunter,
I agree 110% there is nothing like the smell and feel of a book. I did receive a Kindle from my daughter for Christmas and will enjoy it. It also will fit so much better on my Harley when we take our trips. I did ask her not to be mad at me if she sees me reading or purchasing a book because like I said there is nothing like the feel and smell of a book.
Hope you have a great day,
Patty
this book is amazing got me back into reading on a regular basis . you will not be disappointed
You are THE MAN, Wayne. 🙂
First batch will be done in Feb and ready to drink. Bottling will be done on the 18th of Jan…… 🙂
I’d love to win a copy. Congratulations on the book’s release.
Your book sounds really good.
Happy New Year Hope you have a lot of time to read and write books.
Let me know where to send you a six pack
Would love to have a copy.
To pamedic13… How can I get a six pack of the “Forest of Shadows” brew? Of course I would pay for it… I would love to showcase it for my basement bar area…
Kev… Betcha can’t guess what I’m sniffing now…
I thought you were banned from the modeling glue aisle!
Hey Hunter, Great job on the Show tonight on liveparanormal. It was a really interesting story you told us about the little tug at the hotel.
Nothing in my life has freaked me out more than that…yet it left me wanting to experience more. I am the master of oddball reactions. LOL
